Mayoviridae
This family of plant viruses includes viruses with a bi-segmented and positive-sensed single-stranded RNA genome. In the type genus (Idaeovirus) and the type virus 'raspberry bushy dwarf virus' (assigned to the species Idaeovirus rubi), RNA1 has a length of 5,449 nt and RNA2 of 2,713 nt. RNA1 contains a major ORF coding for a 188 kDA protein. RNA2 has 2 ORFs encoding the movement protein and coat protein. It is transmitted by pollen. The family is named after Michael A. Mayo (1944-2008) who studied the raspberry bushy dwarf virus.
