Marafivirus maydis

maize rayado fino virus (MRFV)

The maize rayado fino virus causes a serious disease of maize in Latin America which is often characterized by a regular series of chlorotic spots or short lines. The virus is transmitted by the leafhopper Dalbulus maidis in a persistent manner. In the disease corn stunt, this virus may be also associated with the Maize bushy stunt phytoplasma and with Spiroplasma kunkelii.

The Brazilian corn streak virus is regarded as a synonym of MRFV.
