Leveillula rutae (Jacz.) U. Braun & Crous 2012

This fungus causes a powdery mildew disease on a variety of different crops. The disease has been mainly reported from South America as infecting tomatoes and green pepper, but the fungus is widely distributed. The disease starts as chlorotic spots followed by white fluffy mycelium covering the upper and lower leaf surfaces.

Conidia are dimorphic, hyaline and smooth. The primary conidia are spindle-shaped, sometimes curved, with a size of around 50 x 15 µm. Secondary conidia are cylindrical to oval, around 50-60 long and 10-15 µm wide.
