Grapevine rupestris stem pitting-associated virus (GRSPaV)

The virus is widely distributed and the causal agent of rupestris stem pitting of grapevine. Apart from stem pitting, leaf malformations, vein clearing, and yellowing have been described from infected plants. The virus spreads via propagating materials, pruning tools and possibly also by seeds. It shows similarities to the Apple stem pitting virus. The positive-sensed, single-stranded RNA genome consists of 8.7 kb and encodes 5 open reading frames.
