Elsinoë australis Bitanc. and Jenkins 1936 - (sweet orange scab)

Like Elsinoë fawcettii, causing common citrus scab, this fungus causes a scab disease on various citrus cultivars, characterized by wart-like or scab-like fruiting bodies. However, E. australis only infects the fruits. Various pathotypes have been described for both species which infect different citrus species. The sweet orange pathotype is the best known form of E. australis. The reddish-coloured pustules on the fruits drastically reduce the marketability of fresh fruits.

Synonyms:
Sphaceloma australis
