Delphacodes kuscheli Fennah, 1955
This dephacid is a vector of the Mal de Río Cuarto virus (MRCV) which causes the Rio Cuarto Disease in maize (RCD) in Argentina. The preferred host plant is actually oat, where it can cause outbreaks. It also feeds on wheat, barley and several species of grasses. Some of these hosts are also reservoirs of MRCV.
The planthopper develops into brachypterous (short-winged) and macropterous (long-winged) forms. The later migrate. There are usually four generation per year.
