Delphacodes Fieber, 1866

The species currently placed under Delphacodes are widely distributed and feed mainly on grasses and cereals. Some are important vectors of plant diseases. Delphacodes kuscheli is a pest of maize and other cereals in Argentina and transmits the Mal de Rio Cuarto virus.

This genus is under revision. More than 100 species are presently listed under Delphacodes. However, taxonomic studies have suggested that the genus is polyphyletic and as few as 10 of them should be actually retained in it, all of them found in Europe.
