Cyperus iria (weed) L. - (rice flatsedge)

This weed is widely distributed throughout the tropical and subtropical areas of the world and is considered an important weed in paddy rice, reducing yield by up to 50%. It flowers only a month after emergence and therefore can go through 2 generations during one crop cycle. It flowers throughout the year, producing several thousand seeds per plant.
