Cucujoidea
This superfamily of beetles includes a number of important plant and storage pests, e.g. the grain beetles of the genus Oryzaephilus. The families of this group share several common morphological features, e.g the abdomen of most species has 5 visible sternites and if there are 6 or 7 sternites then the number of tarsal segments is not uniform (heteromerous) in the different legs.
This group includes many predators, e.g. see the important beneficial beetles of the family Coccinellidae (predators).
The following families of plant feeding Cucujoidea have been entered into the system:
- Coccinellidae (plant pests) (5 species)
- Erotylidae (2 species)
- Laemophloeidae (2 species)
- Nitidulidae (18 species)
- Silvanidae (4 species)
