Crithidia mellificae Langridge & McGhee, 1967
This species of trypanosome is an intestinal parasite of honeybees. A survey in Belgium found this trypanosomatid parasite to be common in honeybee colonies and apart from Varroa destructor contributed most to winter mortality of the bees (Ravoet et al., 2013).
