Coccinonectria pachysandricola (B.O. Dodge) L. Lombard & Crous 2015 - (Volutella blight of Pachysandra)
This fungus is widely distributed and causes blight, leaf blotches and stem cankers on Pachysandra plants. Initially, water-soaked green-brown bark cankers appear on the stems, which later dry up and turn brown. Above the canker, yellow to brown leaf blotches appear with concentric rings and dark margins. These spread over the whole leaf and result in leaf blight. The one-celled conidia are ellipsoid to cylindric with rounded ends and about 18-20 x 3-4 µm large.
