Cladobotryum mycophilum (Oudem.) W. Gams & Hooz. 1970

This fungus infects cultivated mushrooms like Agaricus or Pleurotus, causing a cobweb disease. Typically, the fungus first appears as white patches on the substrate and then covers the fruiting bodies, resulting in decay and rot. The disease incidence in mushroom cultures can exceed 50% and can cause significant economic losses.

Taxonomic note: This species is awaiting taxonomic revision. The genus Hypomyces has been recommended for use instead of Cladobotryum, but appears to be paraphyletic (Rossman et al., 2013).
