Cherry necrotic rusty mottle virus (CNRMV)

The virus infects cherry trees, causing brown, angular, necrotic spots, mottling, yellowing and rusty chlorotic areas in susceptible cultivars. The disease can lead to decreased yield and early death of infected trees. It also infects other species of Prunus. It can be transmitted through grafting and the natural mode of spread is unknown.

The virus has filamentous particles. The genome consists of linear, single-stranded and positive-sensed RNA with around 8.4 kb and 7 Open Reading Frames. It is closely related to the Cherry green ring mottle virus.
