Cherry green ring mottle virus (CGRMV)

This virus infects cherry trees and other Prunus species. It was original described from North America, but has since been reported from other regions. The symptoms can include green rings on chlorotic and mottled leaves, leaf necrosis, leaf twisting and curling on susceptible cultivars. Fruits can be also deformed. Several commercially grown cherry cultivars are susceptible to the virus but others show no symptoms.

The virus has filamentous particles. The genome consists of linear, single-stranded and positive-sensed RNA with around 8.4 kb and 7 Open Reading Frames. It is closely related to the Cherry necrotic rusty mottle virus.
