Cenchrus polystachios (weed) (L.) Schultes - (mission grass)
This grass is native to tropical Africa and has been deliberately introduced into other regions as a forage plant, or has spread accidentally. It is now widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions. C. polystachios is often invasive in disturbed habitats and plantations (e.g. Kobayashi et al., 2003). In some areas it has become a fire hazard.
