Cenchrus echinatus (weed) L. - (southern sandbur)
This grassy weed is of Central and South American origin and has spread to parts of Africa, Asia and Australia. It is found on sandy and stony soils, mainly in pastures. The seedheads consist of spiny burs which make harvesting of the affected crops difficult.
