Carpophilus hemipterus (Linnaeus, 1758) - (driedfruit beetle)

The beetle is widely distributed in warmer regions. It is a pest of dried fruits, but can also infest ripe and dropped fruits in orchards, like dates or peaches. Dates are frequently infested and the beetle is tolerant to the high temperatures in date-growing countries. C. hemipterus is frequently introduced with dried fruits into temperate regions and may then also invade other stored products.
