Calepitrimerus vitis (Nalepa, 1905) - (grape rust mite)

This mite is found in most grape-growing regions and attacks the shoots and buds, causing deformed and brown leaves, as well as reduced flowering. Damage can become serious in young grapevine plants.

The adult mite is around 0.15 mm long and overwinters in the buds or under the bark of grapevines. Breeding in the buds and on the leaves starts in spring and several generations are produced per year.
