Apioplagiostoma populi (E.K. Cash & Waterman) M.E. Barr 1978 - (bronze leaf disease of poplar)
The fungus is found in north-eastern North America and infects different species of poplar (Populus). Infected leaves show a characteristic bronze colouration. The colour starts at the leaf margins, spreading inwards, while the midrib and petiole often remain green. The affected leaves may be confined to one branch or scattered within the tree. The discoloured leaves stay on the tree during the winter. The disease results in dieback of a branch. Hybrid trees are particularly susceptible and often decline over a decade.
