Apiognomonia veneta (Sacc. & Speg.) Höhn. 1918 - (sycamore anthracnose)
This fungus is widely distributed and causes an anthracnose disease on plane (sycamore) trees. The necrotic blotches are angular and develop along the leaf veins. The disease can result in leaf drop, twig dieback and cankers. During the winter, the fungus survives in the leaf litter and spores can spread to the developing buds in spring, causing their death.
