Anopheles konderi Galvão & Damasceno, 1942

This mosquito is found in different parts of Brazil as well as in some neighbouring countries. It appears to live predominantly in forested areas, feeding on different types of mammals. It is also attracted to, and bites humans, mainly during sunset. Breeding has been reported in permanent water bodies like pools or streams, but also in temporarily flooded areas.

Taxonomically, A. konderi is part of the Anopheles oswaldoi species complex and can be distinguished from A. oswaldoi s.s. by the structure of the male genitalia. For a taxonomic review see Flores-Mendoza (2004).
