Anopheles hilli Woodhill & Lee, 1944
This mosquito is found in northern parts of Australia and in Papua New Guinea. It has been mainly collected from coastal areas, where it breeds in pools or swamps with brackish or slightly saline water. A. hilli will bite humans, typically just after sunset, and also feeds on cattle or horses. It is regarded as a secondary malaria vector.
Taxonomically it is similar in appearance to Anopheles amictus and has been previously regarded as a subspecies of A. amictus. A. hilli is also closely related to Anopheles annulipes.
