Anopheles forattinii Wilkerson & Sallum, 1999

This mosquito has been described from forested areas of northern South America. It has been reported to bite humans and to breed in pools, ditches and streams. A. forattinii is very similar to Anopheles mediopunctatus and A. costai. These 3 species differ only in the morphology of the larvae and pupae, the structure of the males genitalia, as well as the surface of the eggs.

An identification key for adult males is given in Sallum et al. (2020).
