Alphanucleorhabdovirus tuberosum

Assigned virus:
potato yellow dwarf virus (PYDV)

The potato yellow dwarf virus infects plants from the family Solanaceae in North America. The symptoms include severe stunting, yellowing and necrosis. Infected potato plants have few and deformed tubers that show cracks on the surface and internal necrotic spots. These do not germinate. The virus can be transmitted mechanically and by leafhoppers.
