Aparavirus apisacutum
Assigned virus:
• acute bee paralysis virus (ABPV)
A. apisacutum is the type species of the genus Aparavirus (family Dicistroviridae). It is closely related to the Israeli acute paralysis virus and both belong to the family Dicistroviridae (order Picornavirales). Both viruses cause paralysis, trembling, and rapid death of workers within 1–2 days. ABPV can contribute to colony collapse in combination with other stress factors like infestation by varroa mites.
