Fopius arisanus (parasitoid) (Sonan, 1932)
This wasp is native to tropical parts of Asia and a koinobiont endoparasitoid which parasitizes the first istar larvae of fruit flies. It has been introduced into several countries, for example into Hawaii and French Polynesia against Bactrocera dorsalis and Ceratitis capitata. It is regarded as effective and has become abundant in some areas.
It appears to be most effective on fruit flies from the genus Bactrocera. C. capitata is also often parasitised, but species of Anastrepha are less suitable.
