Anopheles coluzzii Coetzee & Wilkerson, 2013
This species is an important malaria vector in sub-Saharan West Africa. It is closely related to Anopheles gambiae and has been previously referred to as the "M form" of A. gambiae. The name Anopheles gambiae is now restricted to the "S form". In contrast to A. gambia which migrates during the dry summaer period, A. coluzzii undergoes a summer dormancy (aestivation) in nearby shelters (Lehmann et al. 2014).
