Chrysomya rufifacies (Macquart, 1843) - (hairy maggot blowfly)

This blowfly is widely distributed and causes myiasis in humans and animals. However, in some areas it may be less important compared to other blowflies. For example in Australia, it often does not attack sheep until these have been infested by other blowflies like Lucilia sericata.

The body of the larvae is covered with rows of tubercles, resembling hairs. The adult flies are around 10 mm long, with a shiny metallic blue-green coloration.
