Teratosphaeria nubilosa (Cooke 1890) Crous & U. Braun 2007

This fungus is wide-spread and causes leaf blotch on eucalypt trees. It has been originally described from Australia, but has been later also reported from Africa, Europe and South America. In Australia, heavy outbreaks have caused defoliation on Eucalyptus globulus.

Mainly juvenile foliage becomes infected. Initially, pale-green spots develop on both sides of the leaves. They enlarge and coalesce to yellow or pale brown blotches with dark-brown raised borders. The blotches might cover most of the leaf surface and lead to leaf blight.

For a review of the fungus see Hunter et al. (2009).
