Leptocorisa acuta (Thunberg, 1783)
L. acuta is one of several species of plant bugs feeding on the developing grains of rice plants and causing pecky-rice in Asia. Affected rice grains are of poor quality and have a low commercial value. L. acuta has a wide distribution in southern Asia and parts of Australia and the Pacific. It is of quarantine concern in other rice growing regions such as North America.
Apart from rice, the bug breeds on several type of grasses. The adults are 15-16 mm long, yellow-green to yellow-brown in colour and narrow with long legs and antennae. The species is morphologically similar to Leptocorisa oratoria, but narrower and smaller.
