Dysaphis Börner, 1931 - (mealy apple gall aphids)
This genus of aphids contains around 100 species. Pest species are common in the Americas, Europe and in some neighbouring regions. A variety of crops can be infested, especially fruit trees and vegetables. Economically, the rosy apple aphid, Dysaphis plantaginea, is probably the most important species.
Most species have two hosts during their life cycle and might have a different colour and appearance on each hosts. The primary host is often hawthorn or apple and common secondary hosts are plants from the family Apiaceae. The aphids are often covered with mealy wax excretions, especially on the primary hosts. The shape is often round and spherical. The colour is typically greyish, greenish and bluish.
