Brassica yellows virus (BrYV)
This virus is found in eastern Asia where it infects different Brassica species as well as some other crops. The symptoms include yellowing and leaf malformation or mottling. The virus is aphid-transmitted and phloem-limited like other poleroviruses. It is closely related to the Turnip yellows virus but differs in the gene sequence.
BrYV has a single-stranded, positive-sense RNA genome containing six open reading frames (ORFs). Three genotypes of the virus have been described which differ mainly in the sequence of ORFs 0, 1 and 2.
