Gaeumannomyces Arx & D.L. Olivier 1952

This is a small genus of plant pathogenic fungi which infect the roots of cereals or grasses. The most important species is Gaeumannomyces graminis which causes the take-all disease of wheat. Gaeumannomyces species produced unitunicate asci and the genus is closely related to Pyricularia.
