Oligonychus ilicis (McGregor, 1917) - (southern red mite)
This polyphagous spider mite is widely distributed in warmer regions. It can cause serious damage to a number of crops like, coffee, ornamentals, strawberry or blueberry. The mites feed on the lower as well as the upper leaf surfaces, sucking out the content of the cells and causing bronzed-colored leaves. O. ilicis can complete one generation within two weeks under suitable environmental conditions.
