Blueberry scorch virus (BBScV or BlScV)

The virus causes scorch disease of blueberry. The symptoms range from asymptomatic to severe blighting of flowers and young leaves, including twig dieback and plant decline. In addition, infected leaves sometimes show marginal chlorosis or a red line pattern (see illustrations below). In severe cases, the infected plants bear little or no fruit. On the other hand infections may remain latent for many years.

The virus spreads through propagating material and by the aphid Fimbriaphis fimbriata. For management, only planting material from certified nurseries should be used.
