Xyleborus affinis Eichhoff, 1868 - (sugarcane shot-hole borer)
This ambrosia beetle is found in tropical and subtropical countries. For example, it is common in the Americas. It breeds in the trunks of various trees and also attacks sugarcane. There is evidence that it can transmit plant diseases like the fungus Ceratocystis fimbriata.
