Wiseana Viette, 1961 - (porina moths)
This genus of moths is endemic to New Zealand and includes seven, difficult to distinguish species. The larvae live underground and come to the surface during the night, feeding on grasses and other plants. The damage can reach 20%. The most important natural control agents appear to be several closely related species of the Wiseana nuclear polyhedrosis viruses. The adult moths are greyish brown, with a pattern of darker and lighter marks. The wingspan is around 30-50 mm.
