For example, 2 viruses have been introduced into the rabbit populations of Australia. The Myxoma virus was intentionally introduced in the 1950s and the Rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus was studied for possible introduction under quarantine conditions, but spread out of the quarantine facility in the 1990s.
