Typha latifolia (weed) L. - (common cattail)

This cattail species is an apparently native wetland weed in the Americas, but is found also in other regions. It forms highly invasive but sterile hybrids (Typha × glauca) with the exotic Typha angustifolia. It grows up to 3 m and spreads mainly through rhizomes. The plant has broad leaves, 2-4 cm wide. The pistillate spike is usually adjacent to the staminate spike.
