Trichopria Ashmead, 1893
The members of this wasp genus are endoparasitoids of Diptera pupae. The genus is widely distributed and includes more than 100 species. Several of them are important natural enemies of pests like fruit flies or Drosophila species. For example, Trichopria drosophilae has received increased attention after the introduction of the spotted wing drosophila into many regions. Trichopria occidentalis has been released in North America against invasive eye gnats (Hippelates) in the 1960s (Bartlett et al., 1978).
