Tomicus destruens (Wollaston, 1865) - (Mediterranean pine shoot beetle)
The bark beetle attacks pine trees in the Mediterranean region. The beetle breeds under the bark of weakened pines and the young adult beetles emerge in spring. They then feed on pine shoots and are sexually mature by autumn when they lay eggs in the trunk.
