Tomato yellow leaf curl Sardinia virus (TYLCSV)

This virus is one of several viruses causing the tomato leaf curl disease. It is found in the Mediterranean region, and outbreaks have been reported. Resistant tomato cultivars have been developed, but genetic recombination of different strains can overcome the resistance. Apart from tomatoes, other members of the Solanaceae like Capsicum annuum or plants from other families can become infected.

For a review of the biology and evolution of the virus see Díaz-Pendón et al. (2019).
