Tetranychus truncatus Ehara, 1956 - (cassava mite)
The mite is an important, polyphagous spider mite in eastern Asia, infesting crops like cotton, maize, soybean, cassava or eggplant. The mites feed on the lower surface of the leaves causing chlorosis and scarring. The female is about 0.3-0.5 mm large and orange-red with yellow legs. Males are smaller. The development time from egg, through larva, protonymph, deutonymph to adult last around 10 days. Chemical control is often used for management, but problems with pesticide resistance have developed.
