Tetranychus ludeni Zacher, 1913 - (bean spider mite)
This spider mite is believed to be native to Europe, but now has a world-wide distribution. It is polyphagous and can be a significant pest of crops like cotton, beans, eggplants or cucurbits. Leaf infestions result in bronzing and seedling mortality of eggplants can exceed 20% (Reddy & Baskaran , 2006). The adult female is dark red usually with yellowish legs, while the male is orange-yellow.
