Stenotus rubrovittatus (Matsumura) - (sorghum plant bug)

The bug is a pest of rice in eastern Asia. It breeds on grasses (e.g. Poa or Alopecurus) where it is found most parts of the year. Rice is invaded for a short period of time when it feeds on the developing rice grains. These grains later show kernel spotting, known as "pecky rice", which reduces their quality. "Pecky rice" can be also caused by other plant bugs. There are 3 or more generations per year.
