Stenotrophomonas rhizophila (antagonist) Wolf et al., 2002
This bacterium is found in the rhizosphere of various crops and protects plants against diseases like Verticillium dahliae or Rhizoctonia solani (Wolf et al., 2002). It can be also present on other parts of the plants like leaves and stems. Unlike the related Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, it is incapable of growing at human body temperatures, and can therefore be used savely as a biological control agent.
