Steneotarsonemus Beer, 1954

This genus of plant parasitic mites is widely distributed. The species feed mainly on monocots and several have been reported to cause damage to crops like rice, coconuts, sugarcane or pineapple. For example the panicle rice mite, Steneotarsonemus spinki, is regarded as a pest of rice in some parts of the Americas and in Asia.
