Sphenocleaceae (weeds)

This is a very small family of herbaceous plants, containing only the genus Sphenoclea with 2 species. Gooseweed, Sphenoclea zeylanica, is an important rice weed, native to Sub-Saharan Africa, but now widespread in tropical parts of Asia, the Pacific and the Americas. The genus and the family are characterized by the morphology of their flowers and fruits.
