Soil-borne cereal mosaic virus (SBCMV)

This virus is closely related to the Soil-borne wheat mosaic virus (SBWMV) and has been originally considered to be a European strain of that virus. Like SBWMV, it is transmitted through the roots by the plasmodiophorid vector Polymyxa graminis. Yield losses can exceed 50%. It is mainly managed through resistant cultivars.
