Scolothrips takahashii (predator) Priesner, 1950
The thrips is a predator of spider mites (e.g. Tetranychus urticae) in eastern Asia. Compared to predatory mites which are often used in greenhouses against spider mites, it can disperse to other plants by flying and has a larger predation rate. However, its natural rate of reproduction is lower than for a spider mite predator like Phytoseiulus persimilis.
